Grapefruit Simple Syrup

1. Peel the grapefruit

Scrub and dry the grapefruit, then use a vegetable peeler to remove thin strips of peel with minimal white pith. Set aside.

2. Juice

Cut the grapefruit in half and squeeze out the juice.

3. Make the syrup

Combine water, grapefruit juice, and water in a saucepan on the stove. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add in the grapefruit peels and reduce heat to low.

4. Simmer and strain

Cook the infused simple syrup over low heat for 10 minutes then pour the syrup through a fine mesh strainer.
