Deconstructed Burger Bowls

Deconstructed burger bowl with sauteed red onion, dill pickles, cherry tomatoes, beef burger patty and bacon on a bed of greens.
These deconstructed burger bowls are loaded with veggies and a special burger sauce. Easily customize the ingredients to include your favorite burger toppings. This recipe is dairy-free, and gluten-free, with a vegetarian option.

Ingredients
 

Burgers

  • 1 pound ground beef, ground turkey, bison, etc. or substitute see notes
  • 1 teaspoon diamond crystal kosher salt reduce by half if using any other kind
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Special Sauce

  • cup mayo
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickles finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon champagne vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • pinch of salt

Toppings

  • mixed greens
  • cherry tomatoes
  • dill pickle slices
  • sauteed or raw red onions
  • cooked bacon

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, sprinkle the seasoning over the meat and mix until well combined. Form into patties and place on a plate.
  • Add all the sauce ingredients to a bowl and whisk until combined.
  • Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot add the burger patties and cook for a few minutes on each side until your desired doneness is reached.
  • While the burgers cook, assemble your bowls with the greens and toppings.

Notes

Burger topping ideas: avocado, cheddar cheese (dairy-free or regular), caramelized onion, kimchi, tomato confit, grilled bell peppers, marinated mushrooms, quick pickled vegetables, coleslaw, roasted beets, croutons, fried egg, etc.

Vegetarian? - substitute your favorite meatless patty such as quinoa veggie burgers or black bean burgers.
No champagne vinegar? - white wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or pickle juice.
